The challenge
Over the years, Islington Council has done a lotto increase fairness across the borough – however, communications wasn’t doing justice to the great work of Council’s various services. Islington wanted a communications and engagement plan which would help ensure fairness is embedded across their different projects and channels, and become the common thread linking all comms together.
The approach
We conducted a thorough comms review, interviewed members of the Islington communications team and managers of frontline services to understand how ‘fairness’ features in their current work. We ran two focus groups, designed to gain insight into residents’ awareness and understanding of Islington Council’s work around fairness.
The impact
The resulting communications and engagement plan helped Islington Council prioritise messaging, and start engaging in a two-way conversation with residents, ensuring the ‘fairness’ message reaches those it struggled to in the past.
