Launching a bank during a financial crisis.
piece of coverage across regional, national and international news
At the height of the financial crisis in 2011, Shawbrook Bank’s senior team came to us with a brief:” to launch the small but ambitious bank to national press, at a time when trust in the UK banking sector was at an all-time low.
At the point of its launch, Shawbrook offered a range of savings and lending products to individuals and SMEs in the UK.
We knew that its SME lending division would generate most interest with UK press, because of the woeful lack of support being offered to SMEs by the high street banks.
We focused on Shawbrook’s SME lending proposition at the outset, to create the best possible chance of national media cut through.
Our launch strategy exceeded expectations, and we went on to build Shawbrook’s brand up to its successful IPO in 2014,
We secured extensive coverage across regional, national and international news during the first two weeks of the bank’s launch. Highlights included BBC Breakfast, Today Programme, Financial Times, The Guardian, Daily Express and The Times.
We secured comment pieces in the national press on SME lending and better banking, helping cement the bank’s challenger status.
